Rv boondocking for beginners7/14/2023 That is our preferred style of RVing and we generally avoid campgrounds and RV parks. Since we RV almost exclusively off-grid (mostly in remote areas), we see ourselves in the second group and consider that to be boondocking. All other camping without hookups would be considered dry-camping. They’re likely to refer to that style of camping as boondocking or wild camping. Then there are those who prefer to primarily stay off-grid for extended periods in remote areas. RV owners who typically stay in campgrounds and RV parks with full hookups are more likely to refer to all camping without hookups as boondocking. In our 15+ years of RVing here are our observations. What you may consider boondocking, might be considered by some as simply dry-camping. Luckily, our Gemini Class C checks all of these boxes and makes for an exceptional dry camping experience.Believe it or not, the answer is a bit complicated. A tankless water heater will be a huge help for not wasting water because you don’t have to wait for it to heat up in your morning shower. Vents on the roof are essential for your comfort on those warmer days or when you just want some fresh air in your motorhome. Something as simple as LED lights are perfect because they use less electricity, so you can reduce your daily energy usage. Let’s cover some perks that you might not think to look for in an RV if you want to be a master boondocker. Thor Motor Coaches are perfect for boondocking. Always share your location with a trusted friend or family member via word of mouth or location app on your favorite device - just because you want to get away doesn’t mean you don’t want to be reached if needed. For example, if it’s summertime you’ll want to look for a shady area instead of out where the sun can beat down on your RV. Geographic location is important, but so is the strategic placement of your motorhome when you get there. There are a plethora of apps and websites that can help you find the perfect location to camp, dump your tanks and more, but a popular choice by RVers is simply checking with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). As you may have guessed, boondocking doesn’t occur at a traditional campground area, meaning you get to park for free. Boondocking is entirely legal, as long as you’re in an area that allows for this type of camping. Now, let’s talk about getting there safely. If your goal is to elongate your time of isolation, plenty of our motorhomes are prepped for solar, so you’ll have an additional source of power while out in the “boonies.” Is boondocking legal? It wouldn’t be a bad idea to bring some extra fuel along too, just in case. If you’re looking to stay far away from civilization for as long as possible, limit your water use when doing those daily tasks so you can stay among the trees.Įvery Thor Motor Coach comes with an onboard generator, so make sure your tank is filled with fuel and you’ll be ready to camp. To conserve water for bathing, cleaning, and cooking purposes, stock up on bottled water to stay hydrated and get as many long-lasting foods as you can. To maximize your dry camping experience, make sure to fill your fresh water and empty your grey and black water tanks. Boondocking preparation.īoondocking preparation comes down to three main things: water, power, and location. It doesn’t matter if you have a large and in-charge Class A diesel pusher, a small and compact Class B van , or anything in between. It may sound intimidating, but the best part is that anyone can do it. It goes by many different titles, namely boondocking and dry camping, but they all mean the same thing: camping without electrical or water hook-ups. We’re here to help begin this journey, from what boondocking means to getting you prepared with all of the tools you’ll need. It’s time to surround yourself with trees instead of people. There are so many unknowns as Covid-19 continues, but here’s one thing we know to be true: boondocking is the ultimate social distancing.

for a digital motif and the use of Black American artist Henry Taylor’s micro-embroideries added a further dimension to his debut lineup. Playing on the LV codes, Williams’ collaboration with American pixel artist E.T. The line, marked by photo prints of the Pont Neuf and a uniquely designed coat with a shaved monogram motif, also underscored his flair for distinct aesthetics. The runway show mirrored a music video’s high energy, perhaps a testament to the meteoric reach of the brand’s parent company, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.Ĭhanneling gender-fluid appeal, Williams showcased an exhaustive collection spanning checkerboard-patterned denim to a sophisticated cream evening jacket. The world-renowned musician, known for his genre-blurring creativity, masterfully orchestrated the event. The fashion show epitomized high-voltage energy, reverberating through the audience and culminating in a standing ovation for Williams. LOUIS VUITTON SHOWThe pulse of Paris was set alight as Williams unveiled a debut fusing streetwear aesthetics into the French maison’s traditional lineage. “It’s not lost on me that I’m afforded this opportunity to tell these stories,” he said. His interpretation of the Louis Vuitton initials signifies his intention to pour love and appreciation into his work, carrying the legacy of Black culture forward in a space where it has been historically underrepresented. “LV is for Louis Vuitton, but it’s also ‘lover’,” he mused. Pharrell’s love for life, the moment, and opportunities, imbue his approach to design. “A lot of people lost their lives and suffered through the experiences to get us to these positions,” he noted, underscoring the painful history that fuels his desire to honor his community through his work at Louis Vuitton. Williams emphasized the hard-earned global recognition of this cultural “sauce,” exemplified in the influence of figures like LeBron James, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Prince and artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. “I think it’s something in the sauce,” he said. He reflected on the culture’s unique flavor, influence and widespread appeal. “My appointment is a tribute,” Williams said.īlack culture and the struggles Black Americans have faced is a strong driving force for Pharrell. Williams also feels like he’s carrying on the legacy of the late Abloh, who was the first Black artistic director at Louis Vuitton and a personal friend. But stepping into the designer role isn’t just about fulfilling his personal destiny. “So, like when you’re chosen, you just kind of ride the wave.”Ī sense of being selected by the universe, or by Louis Vuitton, carries a sense of destiny for him. But the difference is, I was chosen,” Pharrell told AP in a joint interview. “I didn’t feel any of that because if I was competing for it and people kept telling me, ‘No don’t do it,’ I may have felt that way. But Pharrell says he doesn’t feel pressure to prove himself - he was chosen. It represents a daring move by the luxury brand to entrust the position to a musical artist and cultural influencer, not a classically trained designer. His appointment symbolizes more than a career shift. PHARRELL SPEAKSAs sunlight filled the storied halls of Louis Vuitton’s headquarters, Williams stepped into his new role as the fashion house’s menswear designer.

Original monopoly pieces value7/14/2023 Walsh, Tim, Timeless Toys, Andrews McMeel Publishing, 2004 Monopoly History, Hasbro, reviewed February 6th, 2012 Please Follow/Like All About Fun and Games on Facebook for continuing information and ideas on Fun and Games! A player is sure to remember the token he moved relentlessly around the spaces especially if he eventually won! It could also be the reason why the tokens are so collectible and memorable. A player and his token are a team for a good amount of time and he will want to be sure he picks a companion he likes. Monopoly is known for the long length of time it takes to finish a game, and so maybe this is one of the reasons why Monopoly players are so choosy about their tokens. No matter which token is chosen, a player is sure to take quite a few strolls around the board with it. Deluxe editions may contain up to 12 tokens, though. Today, the directions suggest the game to be played with 2 to 8 players and so at least 8 tokens are now included. But, some Monopoly games were recommended for 3 to 7 players, and in these games, seven tokens were provided. For example, the first Parker Brother’s game comprised of only six tokens. The number of tokens provided in a game box has varied too. On February 6 th, 2013, it was announced the Cat was taking over the Iron. Hasbro announced it was replacing one of the time treasured tokens for a ‘new other’! Players were allowed to vote and choose which classic token was going to ‘jail for life’ (wheelbarrow, shoe, racecar, top hat, thimble, Scottie dog, battleship, or iron) and which new token (robot, guitar, helicopter, diamond ring, or cat) was going to replace it and be the new Monopoly Token for standard games. The most recent change to Monopoly Tokens, however, came in February 2013. Later, in the late 1990’s, a moneybag token was introduced to game boxes. The adorable and well known Scottie dog emerged after the war, along with the horse and rider, wheelbarrow, car, and airplane. Collectors are always on the lookout for the rare rocking horse, lantern, and purse which were included in certain early editions. Throughout Monopoly’s production, other metal tokens turned up in the games. It seems an elephant, train, and other crude shapes were introduced with this new type of token material. Bakelite tokens were also utilized during these times. During WWII, when demand for all metal was at a high, the wooden tokens re-appeared and became standard for the period. Because of this short fall, the company substituted the metal tokens for different colorful shaped wooden pieces or cylinders at the time. By 1936, Parker Brothers could not keep metal tokens needed for the game in supply. The game of Monopoly quickly became increasingly popular. Parker Brothers may have just followed suit. Since early players needed to supply their own game tokens, they had used charms. Before Parker Brothers had employed their own molds for tokens, the company may have utilized charms. It has been suggested by game historians these game tokens were actually charms intended for bracelets. Curiously, a few of the earliest tokens have been discovered to consist of a small hole. These tiny game pieces were made of metal. The first Monopoly game tokens, produced by Parker Brothers in 1935, were the thimble, ship, shoe, hat, cannon, and iron. The common and small household item of the thimble would have made an ideal game piece and may have influenced the future game makers to include it in the game’s tokens. This option may provide the basis for some of the selections Parker Brothers later featured. In the book, Timeless Toys by Tim Walsh, Walsh shares that the directions for Darrow’s game simply state, “ See that each player is provided with some token.” It seems any small object a player could find around the house would suffice. Over the years, these game tokens found inside a Monopoly box have included many different styles.Ĭharles Darrow, designer of Monopoly and who originally sold homemade games himself in 1933, decided to leave the choice of token entirely up to the player. For any Monopoly player, one of the first decisions of the game is to choose which token is going to represent him while moving around the board. Monopoly is one of the best selling board games of all time, and according to the Hasbro website (owner of Parker Brothers Game Company who first widely produced the game), it is sold in over 103 countries and published in 41 different languages. Most have even played the game (or started one). Have Fun!Īlmost any person around the world has at least heard of the game Monopoly. Only 8 Monopoly game tokens will win: Vote HERE! You can vote for a Penguin, Emoji, an array of new footwear tokens, race car, and LOTS more options. January 2017 BREAKING NEWS: MONOPOLY is at is again: Until January 31st, 2017, players can vote on 64 suggested new GAME TOKENS.

Freedom Fighters (EA/IO Interactive, GameCube/PS2/Xbox, 2003)Įveryone of a certain age recalls Britsoft favourites like Jet Set Willy, Skool Daze and Attack of the Mutant Camels, but many of the more nuanced classics are slipping from collective memory. Meanwhile, many of the original development team went on to form Precursor Games and planned a spiritual successor named Shadow of the Eternals which sadly failed to hit its crowdfunding target last year. A proposed sequel never materialised, despite Nintendo renewing the trademark as recently as 2012. Critically acclaimed, but with its mature rating, Nintendo fans weren't quite sure what to make of it. The narrative and locations are creepy and unsettling, but the best part is the sanity meter which drops when you encounter enemies, causing visual disturbances and even tricking you into believing your TV has broken. The powerful artifact provides a portal to a selection of previous lives, all of which must be experienced by the player in order to prevent an ancient evil from re-surfacing. Developed by Canadian studio Silicon Knights and originally meant for the N64, Eternal Darkness is a fascinating Lovecraftian romp following student Alexandria Roivas as she investigates a book known as the Tome of Eternal Darkness. Resident Evil 4 wasn't the only standout survival horror experience on Nintendo's under-rated GameCube system. Alter Ego (Activision, C64/PC/Apple II, 1986) And when the face huggers leap at you it is terrifying. There's also a brilliantly unsettling take on the movie's motion tracker sound effect that ramps up the scare factor considerably. Although movement is essentially limited to left and right (firing at doors lets you pass through them), the action is tense, and the importance of quick accurate aiming hints at the FPS genre to come. Players have to guide six of the film's characters through the colony base, toward the queen's lair. It's essentially a prototype first-person shooter, complete with moveable targeting reticule. Aliens: The Computer Game (Software Studios/Electric Dreams Software, C64/Spectrum, 1986)Īctivision developed a higher profile tie-in with the movie, but this version is far superior and has lasting significance in game design terms. The first-person view and smooth sensation of movement were astonishing at the time (especially considering it ran on the older 16k Spectrum), and it no doubt prepared the way for future variations on the free-roaming driving game. Written by lone coder Mervyn Estcourt (who also produced a PC remake almost 20 years later), this remarkably progressive 3D chase game gets the player to ride a futuristic motorbike through dense woodland, attempting to track down and shoot enemy riders. 3D Deathchase (Micromega, ZX Spectrum, 1983) What have I forgotten? Drowsy chaperone broadway production7/14/2023 At her request, he tells this alleged "stranger" how he first fell in love with Janet and they relive the moment together ("Accident Waiting to Happen"). She puts on a bad French accent and he fails to recognize her. Janet encounters Robert, who is roller-skating blind-folded in the garden. The Chaperone quickly accepts his advances ("Adolpho"). After Janet departs to find Robert, Adolpho arrives and mistakes the Chaperone for Janet. Man in Chair explains that this song was written into the show due to the demands of the actress playing the Drowsy Chaperone, who always insisted that a rousing anthem be included in every show in which she performed. This prompts the Chaperone to perform a rousing anthem about alcoholism ("As We Stumble Along"), which is not particularly relevant to the plot. In her bedroom, Janet shares with her Chaperone her excitement about the upcoming nuptials. He enlists the help of latin lover Adolpho, convincing him to seduce Janet. Feldzeig arrives and attempts to convince her to reconsider the wedding, but she rebuffs him ("Show Off"). Janet is lounging by a pool while fielding questions from reporters. In order to prevent Robert from accidentally seeing the bride before the wedding, he also provides Robert with a blindfold. George suggests that Robert blow off some steam by roller-skating. Robert and George nervously prepare for the wedding ("Cold Feets"). The Gangsters, who are in the employ of one of Feldzeig's investors, pressure him to sabotage the wedding so that he can retain Janet's services as a performer. Throughout the show, Man in Chair will continue to comment and explain the action with asides to the audience.įeldzeig is agonizing over the fact that his top meal ticket, Janet, is leaving showbiz to get married. "tipsy") Chaperone (whom we understand is being played by a rather overbearing and potent grand dame of the theater), and Trix (a glamorous aviatrix a la Amelia Earhart). Tottendale and her Underling (a proper butler), dashing bridegroom Robert Martin, harried and bumbling best man George, producer Feldzeig (a thinly disguised homage to legendary Broadway producer Florenz Zeigfeld), ditsy would-be showgirl ingénue Kitty, a pair of Gangsters disguised as the pastry chefs, Latin Lothario Adolpho (a Rudolph Valentino-type), Janet's Drowsy (i.e. We are introduced to a barrage of characters during an introductory opening number ("Fancy Dress"), including Mrs. Tottendale (a wealthy dowager) is the site of an imminent wedding between showgirl Janet Van De Graff to oil tycoon Robert Martin. No sooner has the needle touched the record than we, together with the narrator, are transported to a 1928 Broadway theater and into "The Drowsy Chaperone", a play-within-a-play crammed full of every cliché, gag and gimmick from the golden age of musicals. He is a fan of vintage musicals who seems to be suffering from free-floating depression, and he quickly decides to cheer things up by playing a record of the original cast recording of a (fictional) Broadway musical entitled "The Drowsy Chaperone". The audience is greeted by the narrator, Man in Chair, sitting on a darkened stage. The Drowsy Chaperone pays tribute to the Jazz-age shows of the 1920s and the power those shows held to transport us into a dazzling fantasy and to lift our spirits in times of sadness. It all begins when a die-hard musical-theater fan plays his favorite cast album on his turntable, and the musical literally bursts to life in his living room, telling the rambunctious tale of a brazen Broadway starlet trying to find, and keep, her true love. If you've ever sat in a dark theatre and thought, "Dear Lord in heaven, please let it be good," this is the show for you! A rare combination of unprecedented originality and blinding talent, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE boldly addresses a great unspoken desire in all of our hearts: to be entertained.

Purgeable macos sierra7/14/2023 162GB.Īt this point, I was essentially forced to use the Optimize option to try to get my drive back. It did this so thoroughly that I couldn’t even take this screenshot initially, as it told me there was no room to do so. Sure enough, iCloud Drive had completely filled up my SSD. The first point at which I became aware of the fact was when I sat down to enjoy a cup of Earl Grey in a coffee shop and work on my SF book: my MacBook Air immediately complained that its SSD was full. “What the … ?” I asked myself. As before, there is no warning that it has done so. But it appears that Sierra doesn’t just switch it on by default when you first upgrade – it also switches it back on again when you do a dot update. Optimize Mac Storage was switched off on both machines. My main machine is my heavily-upgraded 17-inch MacBook Pro. That has 2TB of SSD storage, My MacBook Air is my portable writing machine, used mostly in coffee shops. I don’t keep many documents on it, so I was using well under 100GB of its 256GB SSD. Sierra’s storage-management aren’t a ‘bit of a mess’ at all: having just seen what they did to my MacBook Air, seemingly prompted by the update to 10.12.1, they are a complete and utter disaster … This means that, for any file on iCloud, your Mac could be deleting files from your Mac without your knowledge or permission. Because that first option – to ‘Optimize Mac Storage’ for files stored on iCloud – is on by default in my experience. That’s way too risky for my tastes, especially given the somewhat flakey reliability record of Apple’s cloud services.īut Mac users may also be running that same risk without even realizing it. I wrote an opinion piece last month entitled macOS Sierra’s new storage-management tools are a bit of a mess.Įffectively you are switching from a belt-and-braces system, where you have three copies – one local, a second in your local Time Machine backup, a third on iCloud – to just a single copy. Documents from your other Mac(s) will be found inside a folder with the same name as the Mac. One thing to note if you have more than one Mac: when you switch on iCloud drive, all of the files and folders that were on your desktop will be moved to a Desktop folder inside iCloud Drive – see Apple’s support document on this. I’m unsure exactly which update did so, but everything is fine again in macOS 10.12.4. Update: Apple subsequently fixed the issue.

The further addition of water vapor or cooling of air leads to the appearance of condensed water.
